Youth Protection Seminar & Wine Tasting: August 20
Show your support for the NEW 5th Avenue of Service New Generations and become certified with District 5280's Youth Protection program. Anyone over the age of 18 must be certified to work with any/all programs & activities related to New Generations. We made it easy & fun for all! Just bring a bottle of your favorite wine- join us for a beautiful evening, where a selection of fruit and cheese will be served-become fully certified then stay and enjoy a beautiful summer evening sharing wine and fellowship with your fellow Rotarians...
Be prepared for the Youth Protection Seminar:
- Bring a bottle of wine (or non-alcoholic beverage if you don't drink). It's required for admission
- Fill out the Declaration form
- Fill out the Youth Volunteer Affidavit
As you know, Rotary International has recognized the importance of YOUTH in all Rotary aspects and decided to create 5th Avenue of Service, New Generations -- this replaces “Youth Activities” as we know it and includes Youthact (middle schools), Interact (middle to high schools), Rotaract (college/young adults) and Youth Exchange program. Now that we are “official”, there are some things we, the Rotarians, must do to fully support it.
As this year’s new Senior Assistant Governor of the newest Avenue of Service, I have the pertinent responsibility of making sure that all Rotarians that wish to participate in New Generations activities (i.e., RYLA, Chinese New Year Parade, Toy Train to Tecate, Rotaract socials, various Interact activities, etc.), be certified by completing the Youth Protection Seminar. No worries, we made it very easy and fun for you.
Instead of asking you all to come to a boring seminar and sit/yawn through a class-like atmosphere, we decided to turn this into a FUN fellowship event! All you have to do is to come to Hacienda Hotel on Friday, August 20th and bring a bottle of your favorite wine to share (we’ll even provide fruit/cheese for you to snack on!). We will show you a quick slideshow, have the certification forms available, explain some “common sense” policies and let the fun begin! Come and meet your fellow Rotarians and enjoy Rotary fellowship at its finest.
Please check out the flyer -share it with your club members at your next meeting and bring as many people as possible. Which club wants to be the first 100% YP certified??!!? Just let Tori at the District office know how many of you are coming (office@rotary5280.org), oh and what kind of wine you’ll be bringing…! (if you don't drink alcohol, don't feel left out-bring cider, soda, fancy water, etc)
