District 5280 March In 111th Golden Dragon Parade

On a cloudless, sunny Saturday, February 10, a record number of 180+ Rotarians, Rotaractors and Interactors, families and friends of Rotary D5280 marched at the beginning of the 111th Golden Dragon Parade in Los Angeles Chinatown. Tens of thousands viewed the parade route which began on Hill Street at the Chinatown Branch Library, then looped at Bernard and continued up Broadway to end at Cesar Chavez Blvd.

   

 
Celebrating the onset of the Year of the Tiger 4708 and the Family of Rotary, over ninety enjoyed lunch together in three upstairs dining rooms at Philippe's, home of the French-dip sandwich since 1908, at 1001 N. Alameda Street, before making their way to the assembly area at Hill and Ord Streets. 

    A group photo was taken at the historic Plaza area, birthplace of the City of Angels, and the Rotary unit walked to the assembly area where they partnered with the Chinese Historical Society of Southern California for the tenth year to lead the parade, carrying American flags behind the Rotary International banner. PV Sunset Past president Angi Ma Wong facilitated the activity which was the 10th year that our District has been represented.  The students were from Torrance, West, North, El Segundo, Bell and Inglewood, High Schools and the Rotarians were from Hawthorne, Del Amo, Palos Verdes Sunset, El Segundo, South Bay Sunrise and Inglewood Rotary Clubs.
