A generous anonymous donor from outside of California has offered the District Charitable Foundation (DCF) a one-time match of $5,000 for fire relief or affected area rehabilitation in our district.   The offer will expire at the end of January 2021.   The DCF already has approximately $14,000 in funds earmarked for general disaster relief.  The donor’s offer will be on the DCF Board’s agenda in January. The Board will be asked to consider matching some portion of those funds.

As a preliminary inquiry, and subject to the Board approval, clubs interested in receiving funds are invited to provide an expression of interest in participating in this effort.  Interested club presidents should contact District Charitable Foundation Chair PDG Greg O’Brien (gobrien2012.2013@gmail.com) no later than January 12, 2021. As part of your email, please provide the following information:

  1.  Name and size of your club
  2. How your community has been affected by Southern California fires
  3. Whether your club would be prepared to pledge a matching sum of $250 (small clubs), $500 (medium clubs), $750 (large clubs).
  4. What type of fire relief or rehabilitation project(s) do you envision for your club?
  5. Would you be interested in partnering with other Rotary clubs, which would also pledge a matching sum?  If so, please estimate the number of club partners, up to a total of five clubs including your own.
