At the District Conference in May, several special awards were presented to Rotarians and Rotary Clubs for their outstanding service to the District and Rotary International. Linton Morgan (pictured above left), a Rotarian from the Rotary Club of Inglewood, received the 2013-2014 "Rotarian of the Year" award. Many who have worked with Linton over the years have seen his dedication as both an Assistant Governor and avid District photographer. Larry Bender (pictured above right), a Rotarian from the Rotary Club of Hawthorne-LAX-Lennox, received the "Rotary International Distinguished Service Award". Rotary International gives this award to only a select few Rotarians each year. Larry was recognized for his tireless work with the Polio campaign. Several other Rotarians and Rotary Clubs were recognized for their service as well.

Shirley Giltzow from the Rotary Club of Lawndale received the "PolioPlus Award" for her years of serving as the PolioPlus chair. Judy Delavigne from the Rotary Club of Westchester received Rotary International's "Vocational Service Award". Bart Thiltgen, spouse of Rotarian Laura Fields from the Rotary Club of Redondo Beach, received the "Spouse/Partner Award" for his dedication to the club. The Rotary Club of Granada Hills received the Rotary International "Significant Achievement Award". Governor Doug also handed out Club of Excellence Awards to the Rotary Clubs of Santa Clarita Valley, Granada Hills and Manhattan Beach. Congratulations to all awardees for their dedications and service to Rotary!
