Our club will really miss Russ Rothner, our President Elect. Russ was an active member of our club and was instrumental in building a long term relationship with Moffett School in Lennox and our club. He was a active community volunteer and worked for many years with the Jimmy Miller Foundation and served as our Community Service Director. One of the first things anyone noticed about Russ was that he always had a smile on his face.  He seemed to be someone who loved life and could become your best friend. He enjoyed the outdoors, but his true passions were his family, with a close second being skiing (water and snow).  Russ also loved a good party, whether it was with his drinking buddies or the entire Rotary Club.

Russ joined Rotary in 2008.  Russ was one of those guys who said "yes". Russ can you chair this event?  Yes.  Russ, can you take on this job?  Yes.  Russ, will you serve on the board?  Yes.  Russ, will you agree to be our president-elect?  Yes.  I don’t think the word “NO” was even in his vocabulary.  With every job Russ took on, he gave 110%.

As one of our Rotarian's said, "Russ was always game for anything. It there was anyone who embodied the idea of skidding into heaven screaming, "Wow, what a ride" it was Russ.  He was the full monty. Very physical, generous with his time, giving, loved his bride and was proud of his kids. He will be sorely missed by us all.

There was a paddle out off Redondo Beach just South of the Redondo pier on Sunday, August 10. Please send your cards or emails to Kathleen Terry, 704 30th Manhattan Beach or kterry2@yahoo.com and she will pass them on to Russ's wife.
